A Little Fall Color on the Blue Ridge Parkway

We drove a few miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway this afternoon, between mileposts 423 and 443, and it’s clear that Mother Nature has her paintbox out and has begun her annual masterpiece.

There’s still a lot of green, but now it’s splashed with briliant bursts yellow, gold and red.

The barrier gates at the parkway access point we used (NC 215 at Beech Gap) are still open; only the visitor information stops are closed. But the views are as gorgeous as ever and who needs the brochures anyway?

  3. well, we had a sustained heavy wind followed by a freezing chill, hastening the time we would have spent admiring colored-leaves up in the trees … now there’s a lotta raking!
