No Rain for a Whole Day!

We’ve been stuck indoors for a week and yesterday, finally, the rain stopped. The day was overcast, but Bob was able to get new tires on my truck in the morning so we decided to take a drive in the afternoon to “check them out.” Apparently, twisty mountain roads are ideal for checking out tires, so we headed up NC 215 to the Beech Gap entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The low cloud base killed the views…

…so we got back on 215 and headed North. This section of NC 215 goes through the Pisgah National Forest, following the Bubbling Spring Branch which flows into the West Fork of the Pigeon River. The recent rain has created dozens of tiny waterfalls as the runoff finds its way into these two rivers.

With the overcast and patches of fog, there was not much color but it was good to be outdoors, especially with another week of rain forecast.

Thank you, Sartenada! I like that one too. There isn’t a lot of green here this time of year and that shot is a lot more colorful than most of the others I took that day.
