Banded Tussock Moth Larva

Banded Tussock Moth Larva

We found this little guy today when we opened the back hatch on the truck to stow some groceries we’d just bought. He’s apparently been riding around with us since last weekend when we were negotiating some iffy roads and brushed against his home shrub while we maneuvered around a pothole or two.

He’s probably pretty hungry after his hundred-mile-plus journey, but not knowing what banded tussock moth caterpillars eat, Bob found a leaf in the yard with insect chew-marks and put him on that.
