Of all the things we humans decorate the landscape with, train tracks are probably my favorite. I guess it’s not a very difficult choice considering that the other “decorations” include power lines, litter and barbed-wire fences.

Actually, Damo, I had forgotten them! It’s been about twenty years since I lived and worked in a city that had them growing like weeds! But you are in London, right? Isn’t it in competition with Dubai and Shanghai for this year’s “Construction Crane Capital of the World” award? The U.S. doesn’t even have a city that qualified for the semi-finals.
last time i (thru’ no enthusiasm on my own) was in Lost Wages, NV, my brother looked out from the roof of our hotel and kept commenting on the “crane preserve”. lotsa big holes in the ground in all dye-erexions, cranes hovering over-head …
Train tracks are so fascinating ! They’ll always walk together ,taking people to their destinations ,being humble and silent and extremely patient!
Fences! They are always in my way when taking pictures. With all the litter they accommodate. Railways are my favorites too.
Yes, I agree! Especially the barbed-wire ones that rip your trousers when you climb over them.
I remember once I had to lie on my back and wriggle under the barbed wire 🙂
wottan eye, lady. and the starkness, the trooth, of bl(e)ackenwhite !
Thank you! It’s kind of cool how different a photo looks when you get rid of the color.
Thank you! There’s just something compelling about train tracks.
