Amazing photo. I had to check if in Finland we have white squirrels. Yes, but only few people have seen them. Thank you for this very interesting post.
We saw one in our yard this morning. The Squire managed to get three pictures, but only two were good enough to post. We also have hoards of coal black squirrels, in addition to the common grey ones.
So beautiful!! Never seen a white one before 🙂

They’re not uncommon in my area – we even have a local “White Squirrel Festival” each year.

Cool, isn’t he? I used to see an occasional albino, but never a true white one until we moved here.

It’s incredible ! I didn’t know there were white squirrels!
Are they common in your country?
This photo is worth a prize!

Thank you, Anna! There are areas in the country that have small populations of white squirrels, but they’re uncommon in most places.

That’s interesting! They would be very hard to see in the winter when there’s snow cover.

Thank you! I had to crop it quite a bit. I kept inching closer, but he was really skittish and took off.

I’ve only ever seen one black one – they’re beautiful critters. There’s a website that tracks white squirrel sightings (http://www.untamedscience.com/biodiversity/white-squirrel/).
