Ruffed grouse near Beech Gap, Blue Ridge Parkway
This is the best of four out-of-focus photos I got of a ruffed grouse that was standing in the middle of the northbound lane of the Blue Ridge Parkway this afternoon. He strolled into the underbrush as I was readying my camera and jumped up on a tree stump to pose for a photo, but I wasn’t quick enough to get a good shot.
